The Rules

Here at NUCO we understand that unexpected things can happen and come up after you have booked and paid for a trip. We want to give our passengers as much flexibility with their booking as we possible can, and so, NUCO Travel have made some changes to our name change process this year, still giving you the option to process this up until 48 hours of departure!

For passengers travelling by coach, train, airport transfer or arranging their own transport if the name change is processed 35 days or more prior to departure, this is now free of charge, within 35 days of departure a charge of £50 will apply.

Passengers travelling by air must in addition cover any cost or fee charged by their airline to switch names on the flight booking. For example if the cost of the name change with easyJet is £88 then the fee from NUCO to the passengers would by £88 or £138 depending whether it was within 35 days of travel.

Name changes within 48 hours of departure are not permitted.

Terminology

  • Donor = Person transferring their booking to someone else.
  • Recipient = Person receiving the booking from the donor.

The Process

The vast majority of name changes can be processed by logging into your booking and clicking the ‘name change’ button on the booking summary page. You will then be prompted to supply the name and email address of the person you wish to take your place; alternatively if you are friends with them on Facebook you can send a message through our booking system with instructions on how to process the name change. If you are processing this within 35 days we would require both the donor and recipient to email in to info@nucotravel.com confirming that they would both like to process the name change (the recipient needs to create a NUCO account for us to process) as soon as we have received this NUCO will then process the whole name change for you manually.

Once you have completed the above and initiated the name change via the NUCO booking system you must complete the following steps:

[1] The recipient of the name change must have an online account with NUCO, if they do not have one they can create one at https://accounts.nucotravel.com/
[2] The recipient must be logged into their NUCO account to be able to accept the name change. Once logged in they must either click ‘Accept namechange’  on the email they have received or click the namechange link they have been sent on Facebook.
[3] Acceptance by the recipient triggers a final email from the NUCO to the donor.  To complete the namechange the donor must click ‘Confirm namechange’ in this email.
[4] The name change is now complete with NUCO. All that is left for the donor and recipient to do is sort out the transfer of monies between them. NUCO Travel accepts no responsibility for the transfer of funds between booking donor and booking recipient when processing a name change.

Worked Example outside of 35 days (No Fee)

  • Person A has booked a holiday with NUCO and the total cost is £507
  • Person A has paid their £100 deposit but can no longer go on the holiday, there is an outstanding balance of £407.
  • Person B would like to take the place of Person A
  • On completion of the name change an email confirming the booking has now been transferred over to Person B will be sent
  • The outstanding balance is £407, this is from the total booking cost minus the deposit Person A had paid. Person B is now benefiting from this £100 payment.
  • On this basis we recommend that Person B pays Person A the £100 they had paid towards the booking.
  • It must be noted if Person B had not taken the place of Person A, then Person A would have had to cancel their place and hence lost all £100.

Worked example within 35 days (£50 fee)

  • Person A has booked a holiday with NUCO and the total cost is £507
  • Person A has paid the balance in full but can no longer go on the holiday.
  • Person B would like to take the place of Person A
  • On completion of the name change a £50 name change fee is added to the cost of the holiday, the updated cost is now £507 + £50 = £557.
  • The updated outstanding balance to pay is £50, this is calculated by £557 minus the £507 paid by Person A. Person B is now benefiting from this £507 payment.
  • Conversely Person B is also incurring the additional £50 name change fee.
  • On this basis we recommend that Person B pays £50 to NUCO for the remaining balance and then £457 to Person A for the place, this is the original total cost of £507 minus £50.
  • This means that the name change costs Person A £50. It must be noted if Person B had not taken the place of Person A, then Person A would have had to cancel their place and lost either 60%, 80% or 100% of their £507 payment depending on what day they cancelled.
